Cathy Watson, a 41-year-old woman from Baton Rouge, LA, was tragically shot and killed on May 28, 2022. Her death was ruled a homicide by the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office. Watson, who was a beloved waitress, was shot by her fiancé, Gerald Smith, 31, during an argument that turned physical at a laundromat on Greenwell Street. Smith initially claimed that Watson had accidentally shot herself in the head, but further investigation revealed that the couple had a history of domestic disputes.
