On the evening of August 29, 2024, 39-year-old Trene Walls was driving northbound on Interstate 110 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At approximately 6:30 p.m., as she was near the Evangeline Street exit, another vehicle pulled up alongside her car. Without warning, shots were fired from the other vehicle into hers.
Walls was the only person in her vehicle at the time of the shooting. Struck by the gunfire, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Baton Rouge Police Department was called to the interstate around 6:36 p.m. and subsequently launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting.
As of the immediate reports following the incident, authorities had not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to seek information from the public regarding the circumstances that led to Walls' death on the interstate.
