On February 3, 2018, Jess John Wood Jr., a 37-year-old male from New Orleans, Louisiana, was fatally shot in the Holy Cross neighborhood of the Lower Ninth Ward. Born on December 7, 1980, in New Orleans, Jess was the son of the late Jess John Wood Sr. and Margaret Williamson Wood. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and Loyola School of Law. Jess was survived by his sister, Camille W. Burckel, and half-brother, Aubrey Jacksina.
