In the early hours of a violent Saturday in New Orleans, 31-year-old Algeron Washington, a Black male, became one of several victims of gun violence that plagued the city on March 20, 2010. His life was cut short in the Algiers neighborhood, a part of the city separated from the downtown core by the sweeping crescent of the Mississippi River. It was there, in the 100 block of Eliza Street, that Washington was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds.
