In the late afternoon of August 11, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm in the 2200 block of Peniston Street in New Orleans. When the chaos subsided, 17-year-old Sam Carter, a male, was found lying on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called to the scene, but it was too late; the young man was pronounced dead right where he had fallen.
