On the night of November 3, 2018, in Shreveport, Louisiana, 28-year-old Lester McGee was fatally shot while working as a pizza delivery driver for Domino's. The incident occurred in the 700 block of West 68th Street, where McGee was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of the male victim led to the identification of four suspects, all of whom were juveniles at the time of the offense.
The individuals involved were 13-year-old Anthony Mandigo, 16-year-old Jae'lyon Ware, Demarea Jefferson, and another juvenile identified only by the initials L.P. The group had reportedly planned to rob the pizza delivery driver.
Following an investigation, authorities made several arrests. On November 19, 2018, Anthony Mandigo surrendered to the Shreveport Police, accompanied by his mother. He was subsequently booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of second-degree murder. Mandigo was later sentenced to juvenile life for his involvement in the armed robbery and McGee's murder. Jae'lyon Ware was also taken into custody and the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office announced that he would be tried as an adult. Ware later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The legal outcomes for Demarea Jefferson and the juvenile known as L.P. were also addressed through the justice system. Court documents indicated that the fatal shots were fired by either Jefferson or another juvenile accomplice. In November 2021, it was reported that Anthony Mandigo had escaped from a medical facility where he was receiving treatment. He was considered armed and dangerous but was eventually apprehended in January 2024 after an anonymous tip led police to his location.
