In the early hours of a Sunday morning in south Shreveport, a tragic series of events unfolded, leaving two men dead in what authorities have described as a domestic dispute. Perry Bailey, a 36-year-old male stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, was fatally shot on June 30, 2019. The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. at a residence on Long Branch Lane.
Deputies were called to the scene to find a harrowing situation.
According to the female homeowner, her former boyfriend, 39-year-old Brandan C. Brown of Bossier City, had broken into the house through a master bedroom window. Brown then shot Bailey, who was the homeowner's current boyfriend. In a fortunate turn of events, the woman and five children, ranging in age from 6 to 17, were able to escape the home through a kitchen door and call for help.
After shooting Bailey, Brown then turned the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Bailey was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries at 5:39 a.m.
The investigation into the incident concluded that it was a murder-suicide, with Brandan C. Brown being the sole suspect in Perry Bailey's death. As the suspect was deceased, no arrests were made. Bailey was remembered as an amazing leader and a wonderful mentor to younger medics at Barksdale Air Force Base. He was known for his contagious laughter and his love of running in marathons.
