Orlando Puryear Jr., a 24-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 4, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Puryear, a former football star at Evangel Christian Academy, was fatally shot in a rolling shootout that occurred at the intersection of Jewella and Amelia Avenues. The incident left three others injured. Puryear was rushed to Ochsner LSU Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:54 PM, just over an hour after the shooting.
