According to his mother, Bailey was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without
a second thought. He was known for his kindness and selflessness, often helping elderly neighbors by taking their trash cans to the street and greeting everyone with a smile and a good day wish. His family, devastated by their loss, started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses and to support his children.
The investigation into Bailey's death moved swiftly. Preliminary information from the Memphis Police Department indicated that Bailey knew his assailant. This familiarity between the victim and the suspect pointed to a personal conflict rather than a random act of violence. The investigation culminated in an arrest just four days after the shooting.
On April 22, 2025, the Memphis Police Department announced they had taken a 20-year-old man into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was formally charged with first-degree murder, bringing a measure of closure to a community shaken by the violent loss of one of their own.
