On the afternoon of June 14, 2019, police in Lafayette, Louisiana, responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon in the 200 block of Alice Drive. Upon arrival, they found 44-year-old Leo Lafauci suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The male victim was a U.S.
Navy veteran and was remembered by his family as a loving father, brother, grandfather, and son.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified the suspect as Leo Lafauci's own son, 23-year-old Tristian Lafauci. He had fled the scene before officers arrived. A search for Tristian ensued, and he was later taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Tristian Lafauci was charged with second-degree murder in connection with his father's death. During the booking process, it was also discovered that he had an active warrant for an unrelated incident. He was subsequently booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
