Responding to a report of a shooting at a residence on Linda Ann Avenue, deputies from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office arrived to a grim scene. Inside the home, they discovered Janice Gardener, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Also found inside the home was Gardener's brother, 44-year-old
Keith Stevenson, who had been shot multiple times. Emergency medical services transported Stevenson to a nearby hospital for treatment, but he later succumbed to his injuries. The initial investigation revealed that two unknown male assailants forcibly entered the residence and opened fire before quickly fleeing the scene.
