On a tragic Saturday morning, May 3, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana, the life of 27-year-old Samantha Rae Breaux, a white female from the nearby town of Church Point, was cut short in a devastating act of domestic violence. The heartbreaking event unfolded around 8:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the Legends bar on Johnston Street, a location that would become the final scene of a heated dispute.
Samantha and her domestic partner, 30-year-old Jonovan Dauphine of Sunset, were reportedly seen
arguing inside their vehicle. The disagreement escalated tragically when Dauphine fatally shot Breaux before turning the gun on himself. Surveillance footage from the area is said to have captured a flash from within the vehicle, marking the moment the shots were fired. A worker from a neighboring McDonald's witnessed the disturbance and promptly alerted the authorities. When police arrived, they discovered both Samantha and Jonovan deceased inside the car. Fortunately, their children were not present at the time of the incident.
In the wake of this tragedy, Samantha Breaux is remembered as a loving mother to her children.
