In the fading hours of a Tuesday night in Baton Rouge, tragedy struck, forever altering the lives of a local family. On November 23, 2021, Kendrick Demond Gibson, a 29-year-old male resident of the city, was shot and killed. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at a residence on Linwood Street, where an argument escalated into deadly violence. Gibson was found on a porch, having succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
He had been shot three times following what police described as a struggle inside the house. Another individual was also wounded in the altercation.
The investigation into the shooting led to the swift arrest of a 16-year-old male. The teenage suspect was identified as Gibson's brother-in-law. Following his arrest, the juvenile was booked into jail on serious charges that included first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and obstruction of justice.
