In the morning hours of December 16, 2021, a verbal dispute on Evangeline Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragically escalated, leading to the death of 51-year-old OW Turner. The incident occurred around 10:06 a.m. when an argument between Turner and another man turned violent. Turner was shot during the altercation and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The male suspect fled before law enforcement arrived.
The Baton Rouge Police Department's Homicide Division immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. For several months, the case remained under active investigation as detectives worked to identify the individual responsible for Turner's death.
On March 4, 2022, a breakthrough in the case led to an arrest. Baton Rouge Police Detectives apprehended 49-year-old Marquette Alexander in connection with the shooting. Investigators believe that Alexander was the individual who had the verbal altercation with Turner and subsequently shot him. Alexander was taken into custody and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faces charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon for his alleged involvement in the death of OW Turner.
