On December 16, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., the Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 9900 block of Merganzer Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Sedrick Davis lying in a grassy area, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services attempted life-saving measures; however, Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
