In the early morning hours of December 6, 2021, the sound of gunshots shattered the quiet of a Shreveport, Louisiana neighborhood. When police arrived at the scene on Miles Street, near Broadway Avenue, they discovered the bodies of 41-year-old Teola Booker, an African American female, and D'Angelo Hinton, also 41, inside a parked vehicle. Both had been shot multiple times and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly led authorities to
identify a suspect. Jamarcus Jermaine Richardson, 31 years old at the time, was named as the primary person of interest in the killings of Booker and Hinton. The Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crime division undertook a thorough investigation to build a case against him.
Following the investigation, the case was presented to a Caddo Parish Grand Jury. On March 18, 2022, the grand jury returned an indictment against Jamarcus Jermaine Richardson, formally charging him with second-degree murder for the deaths of Teola Booker and D'Angelo Hinton. At the time of the indictment, Richardson was considered armed and dangerous, prompting a search for his whereabouts. The community was left to mourn the tragic loss of two of its members as the legal process began to unfold.
