In the winter of 2018, a vibrant life was tragically cut short in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mary Houston, a 38-year-old African American woman, was a familiar face in her community, known for her outgoing personality. Her life, however, came to a violent end on December 4, 2018, leaving a void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
The events of that day unfolded in the Greenbrook Park section of the Cedar Grove neighborhood.
An altercation at a residence on South Emerald Loop escalated, culminating in a fatal shooting. Mary Houston was the victim of this senseless act of violence. The Shreveport Police Department was called to the scene, where they found Ms. Houston suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into her death quickly pointed to a suspect. Ramon Laderrick Adger, a 30-year-old man also from Shreveport, was identified as the individual responsible for the shooting. He was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The case against Adger proceeded through the legal system, and on March 20, 2019, a Caddo Parish Grand Jury returned an indictment against him for the murder of Mary Houston. The indictment was a significant step in the pursuit of justice for Ms. Houston and her grieving family.
