In the early morning hours of February 6, 2022, the life of 15-year-old Qwan Lee Jones, an African American male, was tragically cut short in Shreveport, Louisiana. The incident unfolded inside a residence located in the 400 block of Flournoy-Lucas Road, where Qwan and other young people were reportedly handling a loaded handgun.
An argument is said to have erupted among the youths, escalating to a fatal point.
During the dispute, one of the teenagers allegedly brandished the firearm and shot Qwan in the chest. Emergency services were called, and he was rushed to Willis-Knighton South hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at 1:50 a.m.
The Shreveport Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting, marking it as the city's sixth homicide of the year. Authorities have been actively seeking information and searching for suspects related to the incident. However, no arrests have been publicly announced, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police have urged anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward to assist in bringing closure to the family and community affected by this loss.
