On a warm evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, a family gathering took a tragic turn, ending in the death of 36-year-old Randall Jack. The African American man was at a home in the 8800 block of Yancey Street for an early Mother's Day celebration on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Inside the residence, while watching a basketball game on television, an argument broke out between Jack and his brother-in-law.
The verbal altercation escalated with shocking suddenness.
The brother-in-law produced a firearm and shot Jack multiple times in the head, inflicting fatal injuries. Police were summoned to the scene around 7:15 p.m. by a female caller who reported that her husband had been shot. When officers arrived, they found the armed suspect outside the home.
Law enforcement officials reported that the suspect aimed his weapon at the responding officers. In the ensuing confrontation, multiple officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Shreveport Police Department is investigating the homicide of Randall Jack, while the Louisiana State Police is handling the separate investigation into the officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of the suspect. Due to the death of the sole suspect, no arrests were made in connection with Jack's murder.
