In the early morning hours of May 18, 2022, the life of 18-year-old Madison Brown was tragically cut short in a brazen shooting on Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Brown was a passenger in a vehicle when it was ambushed, boxed in by a pick-up truck and an SUV. Once the car was trapped, one or more individuals opened fire, striking and killing her.
Two other people in the vehicle with Brown were unharmed in the attack.
The investigation into the death of the female teenager swiftly identified two suspects, 20-year-old Naquez Preston and an unnamed 15-year-old male. According to law enforcement, the two vehicles used in the ambush had been reported stolen. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Preston and two others with the stolen truck and later taking the SUV just moments before the fatal shooting. In a disturbing turn, it was reported that the suspects had bragged about the murder on social media, which aided investigators in their identification.
In August 2022, both Naquez Preston and the juvenile suspect were apprehended. The 15-year-old was arrested on August 9, followed by the arrest of Preston two days later. Both individuals are facing serious charges for their alleged roles in the death of Madison Brown, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities. Following their arrests, the juvenile was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center, while Preston was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
