The series of events that led to her untimely death began when she was asked to accompany a woman to the home of the woman's ex-boyfriend.
The woman,
reportedly involved in an ongoing feud with her ex-boyfriend's new partner, brought Cedrica and others with her to the residence on Forest Grove Avenue. When they arrived, the situation escalated dramatically. Ester Williams, the new girlfriend of the ex-boyfriend, Patrick Johnson, is said to have emerged from the house and fired a single shot at the vehicle they were in. That single bullet struck Cedrica, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath, authorities arrested 26-year-old Ester Williams and her 36-year-old boyfriend, Patrick Johnson. Williams was initially charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. Johnson faced charges of being an accessory after the fact to both first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, for allegedly helping Williams flee the scene and hide the weapon.
