Deandre Montez Atkinson, a 17-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on September 25, 2014, in Springfield, Illinois. Deandre was shot while walking out of the Victoria Village Apartment complex with friends. The group was confronted by gang members, and although Deandre was not involved in any gang activities, he was caught in the crossfire.
