Kirk Hardy, a 41-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on November 7, 2014, in Springfield, Illinois. Born on February 22, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica, Hardy had moved to Springfield where he lived with his family. He was married to Nicole Tucker since 1993. Hardy's death was the result of a shooting, which led to a significant outpouring of grief and calls for justice within the community.
