Sean Campbell, a 54-year-old Black male, was found fatally shot inside a residence on Springfield’s east side in the early morning hours of October 6, 2025. Officers were dispatched around 5:45–5:47 a.m. to the 1200 block of East Kansas Street for a report of a possible shooting; the Sangamon County Coroner later pronounced him dead at the scene, and an autopsy confirmed he died from a gunshot wound.
