Carlos Dew, a 46-year-old man from Springfield, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed on December 1, 2015. Dew, who was a father of six, was attempting to mediate a domestic dispute when he was shot by Diamond D. Perkins, the brother of Dew's fiancée. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in Lions Court on Springfield's east side.

Perkins was arrested eight days after the shooting and later pleaded guilty to murder. He was sentenced to 28 years in prison, a sentence that Dew's sister, Y ...
