Death by Force

On the morning of April 24, 2024, 16-year-old African American male Keyon Maurice Day was fatally shot while walking to Southeast High School in Springfield, Illinois. The incident occurred near Dreamland Park around 8:30 a.m., where Keyon was struck multiple times in the lower torso by gunfire from a passing vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. The Sangamon County Coroner confirmed his death later that day.
