Charles Thomas Hammock, a 53-year-old white male, was a sergeant with the Augusta Police Department in Georgia. On December 18, 1990, he was tragically shot and killed after an altercation with a group of young men. The incident occurred shortly after Sergeant Hammock had finished working special duty at a basketball game.
