In a tragic turn of events on September 19, 2022, 19-year-old Kameron Tucker was found shot and killed inside an apartment in Augusta, Georgia. Another teenager, 17-year-old Kentevios Wageman, also lost his life in the shooting which occurred in the 2500 block of Cascade Drive. Both young men were discovered unresponsive and were pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour after the shooting.
The double homicide, which took place in an apartment reportedly filled with people, was
described as a brazen act of violence. While authorities remained tight-lipped during the initial stages of the investigation, early reports suggested the shooting may have been an act of retaliation for a prior robbery, though this was never officially confirmed.
In the weeks and months that followed, investigators made two arrests in connection with the murders. In late September 2022, 18-year-old Andre Rountree was taken into custody and charged with murder. A second suspect, 20-year-old Arquette Jones, was arrested on November 8, 2022, and faced two counts of murder and a charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Jones had a previous history of violence, including a prior murder arrest at the age of 16. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has stated that it is an active criminal case and has not released further details.
