In the late afternoon of March 22, 2011, a tragic series of events unfolded in Athens, Georgia, culminating in the death of 34-year-old White male, Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian III. A respected member of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Christian was known for his gentle nature and dedication to his community, where he also served as a volunteer firefighter and a church deacon.
