In the late summer of 2015, a life was tragically cut short in Athens, Georgia. Trequavious Trey Treasure-Marqua Elder, a 19-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on August 20, 2015. The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded at the North Grove Apartment complex located on Old Hull Road. An argument between Elder and another man escalated, shattering the peace of the evening and ending in violence.
The dispute was with 31-year-old Fernakey Juan Pass, who also resided at the same apartment complex. While the specifics of their disagreement were not made public by law enforcement, the confrontation concluded with Elder sustaining a single, fatal gunshot wound to the head. Emergency services responded to the scene, and Elder was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center, but his injury proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, officers with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department were able to quickly identify and apprehend a suspect. Fernakey Juan Pass was arrested at the apartment complex within an hour of the incident. He was subsequently taken into custody and held at the Clarke County Jail.
