He was discovered in his pickup truck on March 27, the victim of what law enforcement officials believe to be an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 9mm pistol was found on the floorboard of the vehicle, leading investigators to speculate that the firearm may have unintentionally discharged while tucked into his waistband. Casey, a lifelong resident of Madison County, was remembered as a man with a big heart, always willing to lend a hand to others. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing, passions he eagerly shared with his young son, who was the center of his world. After graduating from Athens Technical College, he built a career as a diesel mechanic and welder, most recently working for Thomas Concrete.
His life, however, was not without its struggles. For much of his adulthood, Casey battled addiction, a fight that led him through cycles of despair and rehabilitation. In the two years leading up to his death, he had found a period of peace and healing, reconnecting with his family and overcoming the demons that had long plagued him. This difficult journey had instilled in him a profound sense of gratitude for the love and support of his family.
As of now, there have been no arrests made in connection with Casey Roy Hobbs's death, and no suspects have been named, as the ongoing investigation points towards a tragic accident.
