On the morning of August 26, 2023, Eugene Scott, a 72-year-old man from Athens, Georgia, was found dead inside his home on Old Monroe Road after being shot. The discovery came when his friend Dwayne Watson arrived to take him grocery shopping, something the two reportedly did together on Saturdays.
