Eugene Scott Jr., a 72-year-old resident of Athens, Georgia, was found deceased in his home on Old Monroe Road on August 26, 2023. His friend, Dwayne Watson, discovered his body when he arrived to take Scott grocery shopping, as was their Saturday routine. Upon entering the house, Watson noticed the television and stove were left on before finding Scott on the kitchen floor with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
