Jasperin Jaborius Armstrong, a 20-year-old man from Cordele, Georgia, was found dead on Ferry Landing Road in Crisp County on September 12, 2014. An investigation by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation determined that he had died from a single gunshot wound. individuals in connection with Armstrong's death. Rocquel Quinton Chavers, 31, of Bainbridge, Rontavious Domonic Towns, 21, of Cordele, and Andreika Lynette Harper, 26, of Bainbridge, were all charged in the case. The motive for the murder was determined to be a violation of gang rules by Armstrong. Chavers was identified as a high-ranking member of the 'Rollin' 20s' street gang, a division of the Bloods.
Rocquel Quinton Chavers was the first to face trial. In August 2015, a Crisp County jury convicted him of a series of charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to murder, and street gang terrorism. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 25 years. The evidence presented at his trial detailed his role as the orchestrator and perpetrator of the killing. His conviction and sentence were later upheld by the Georgia Supreme Court in 2019, which affirmed the jury's finding of his guilt on all counts.
The other two suspects also faced justice for their roles in the crime. Rontavious Domonic Towns, a leader of the Cordele division of the Rollin' 20s, pleaded guilty in May 2016 to conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of violating the Street Gang Terrorism Act. His plea was for his part in orchestrating Armstrong's death. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison, to be followed by an additional 10 years of probation.
Andreika Lynette Harper, who was with Chavers when Armstrong was killed, was also arrested and faced charges of murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. Court documents indicate that she drove Chavers to and from the scene of the crime and was present during the murder. She later testified at Chavers's trial, providing key details about the events of that night. While the initial reports indicated she would face trial, the final disposition of her charges is not publicly available in the search results.
