In what was described by authorities as a tragic domestic incident, 33-year-old Charlette Singletary was shot and killed on Monday, March 2, 2015, in Euharlee, Georgia. The female victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds on the back porch of a home on Winchester Drive in the Hunters Landing subdivision.
Emergency services were called to the residence at approximately 1:40 p.m.
Singletary was transported to Cartersville Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The investigation into her death quickly identified her 39-year-old boyfriend, Jacques Antoine, as the suspect.
Following the discovery of Singletary, law enforcement, including a SWAT team, attempted to make contact with Antoine, who had barricaded himself inside the Winchester Drive home. After unsuccessful attempts to communicate with him, officers obtained a search warrant and entered the residence. Inside, they found Antoine deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Euharlee Police Chief Terry Harget stated that the incident stemmed from a 'domestic issue.' Investigators believe that Antoine shot and killed Singletary before taking his own life in what was determined to be a murder-suicide. The case was closed following the determination of the events, with Antoine being the sole suspect in Singletary's death. The investigation prompted the lockdown of two nearby schools, Woodland Middle and Euharlee Elementary, as a precautionary measure, though they were dismissed at their normal times.
