Kinaya Hightower, 21, a Black woman, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of October 26, 2025, at a gas station along the 3000 block of Moreland Avenue in the Conley area of south DeKalb County. She had gone out to mark her birthday when a car meet-up at the station erupted into gunfire between others, and she was struck as an innocent bystander.
