Janae Owens, a 17-year-old African American girl, tragically lost her life on June 20, 2018, in Decatur, Georgia. The incident occurred while she was in a vehicle with her mother, Jocelyn Gilbert, and her twin sister. They were stopped at a traffic light when a 50-year-old man, identified as Simmie Rischard Reed, allegedly opened fire on their car.
