On May 20, 2019, 70-year-old Willard Ron Hess and his 72-year-old wife, Dorothy E. Hess, were found dead in their home in Winder, Georgia. The couple, both white, were discovered by their teenage grandson, who lived across the street with his parents and siblings. Upon entering the home to check on his grandparents, the grandson immediately sensed something was wrong and called 911. The Barrow County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the deaths.
