In the warm summer of 2022, just having entered his retirement, 67-year-old Rufus McCants was enjoying the slower pace of life in Montgomery, Alabama. A dedicated family man and hard worker, he often spent his newfound free time visiting with loved ones. On Sunday, July 3rd, those cherished moments were tragically cut short. While out visiting a friend, Mr. McCants, a Black male, was fatally shot.
