Edgar Lee Harris IV, 28, a Black male from Columbus, Georgia, died on July 7, 2019, after a shooting at the Wilson Apartments, also referred to in later coverage as Wilson Homes. Police were called there late on July 6 after reports of gunfire and found Harris with a fatal gunshot wound, turning what had begun as a summer night at the apartment complex into a homicide investigation that quickly drew the attention of Columbus detectives.
