In the summer of 2016, a dispute over a bottle of liquor at a birthday party in Columbus, Georgia, ended in the shooting death of 25-year-old Kenneth Holloway Jr. The male victim, affectionately known as 'Baby Kenny,' was killed on Saturday, June 18, 2016. The incident, which took place on 17th Avenue, quickly escalated from a verbal argument to a fatal encounter.
The man accused of the crime, Torrance Terrell Menefee, claimed that he acted in self-defense.
During his trial, Menefee testified that he and Holloway were arguing over a $60 bottle of Hennessy cognac. He alleged that Holloway became aggressive, pushed him twice, and then reached for the gun that Menefee had holstered on his side. Fearing for his life, Menefee stated that he drew his weapon and shot Holloway.
Tragically, the violence that touched the Holloway family did not end with Kenneth's death. Just a few weeks later, on July 3, 2016, his older brother, 29-year-old Terry Cobb, was also shot and killed in Columbus. At the time of his death, Cobb was wanted by police in connection with a homicide that had occurred the previous year. Law enforcement officials did not immediately know if the two brothers' deaths were connected.
