Deonte Roberts, a 16-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 22, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia. Deonte, who was affectionately known as "Tae," was shot in the chest during an argument at a southwest Atlanta home. The incident occurred amidst a shelter-in-place order due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Deonte was a high school student in Maryland, where he played basketball and was well-regarded by his peers and teachers.
