On May 5th, she was discovered in the 1600 block of Camp Lane, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The nature of her injuries immediately led authorities to treat her death as a homicide, launching a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the violent incident.
The investigation into Williams' death soon led to a significant development with the arrest of a suspect, Randy Bernard Wimberly. Following his arrest, a Dougherty County grand jury handed down a multi-count indictment against him. The charges were severe, reflecting the gravity of the crime, and included malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. Further charges included possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, indicating a prior criminal history for Wimberly.
