In the summer of 2011, the life of James Eugene Owens, a skilled master carpenter, came to an untimely end. A native of Baton Rouge, he passed away early on the morning of Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the age of 40. Born on June 7, 1971, he was a man with deep roots in Louisiana, though he also had family residing in Texas. His passing was felt by many, including his parents, siblings, and his four children who were living in various states from Oklahoma to Hawaii.
