Victor LaPharaohs, 22, a young Black man from Baton Rouge, was shot in the middle of the afternoon on June 30, 2025. A ShotSpotter alert drew officers to the 9900 block of Avenue J near Woodpecker Street, where Victor LaPharaohs, 22, was found in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds; he died at the scene. Police said the call came in just after 3 p.m., and early on they reported no motive or suspect information as detectives with the Homicide Division began their work.
