In the summer of 2025, a young man's life was cut short in a parking lot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Victor LaPharaohs, a 22-year-old male, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on June 30th. When officers arrived at the scene on Avenue J, it was too late to save him. The investigation into his death quickly launched, as authorities began to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
The search for those responsible led to the arrests of two teenagers.
One of the suspects was identified as 17-year-old Eddie Monroe. He was taken into custody and subsequently booked for second-degree murder in connection with the death of LaPharaohs. Another teenager, who was 16 years old at the time, was also arrested. His identity was not publicly released, and he faced a charge of principal to second-degree murder.
As the investigation continued, it was revealed that Eddie Monroe was already known to the justice system. Just weeks before the shooting of Victor LaPharaohs, Monroe had been released on bond for a separate incident. He was previously arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred during a Christmas parade. The conditions of his release included a curfew and a prohibition from possessing firearms. The East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney had expressed a desire for more stringent monitoring conditions for Monroe following his release. The case against the two teenagers for their alleged involvement in the death of Victor LaPharaohs would proceed through the legal system.
