Hector Antonio Fontanez-Diaz, a 26-year-old police officer with the New York City Police Department, tragically lost his life on September 12, 1991. Officer Fontanez-Diaz was on duty when he encountered an armed suspect in the vicinity of Eastchester Road. The suspect, who had been seen riding a bicycle and brandishing a firearm, fled into an alley adjacent to 3457-59 Eastchester Road.
