On September 12, 1991, Hector Antonio Fontanez-Diaz, a 26-year-old Hispanic male, lost his life in the line of duty as a New York City Police Officer. A five-year veteran of the force, he was assigned to the 47th Precinct in the Bronx. The tragic events unfolded in the afternoon after police received a report of a man brandishing a gun while riding a bicycle in the Parkchester area of the Bronx.
