Senior Court Clerk Alphonso B. Deal, aged 42, tragically lost his life on July 7, 1988, in New York City. Alphonso was shot and killed while coming to the aid of a robbery victim on West 140th Street at approximately 11:10 PM. He was attempting to arrest a man who had shot another individual and stolen his bicycle. During this brave intervention, the suspect turned and opened fire on Alphonso, striking him.
