In the early hours of a spring day in New York, the vibrant life of Harlem was momentarily silenced by the echo of a gunshot. On April 24, 2019, a 40-year-old man named Thomas White was found lying on the pavement at the corner of West 119th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
