On a Sunday afternoon in the Flatlands neighborhood of Brooklyn, 15-year-old Isiah Joseph’s life was cut short by a single bullet. It was around 1:15 p.m. on January 11, 2015, at the intersection of Avenue H and East 56th Street, when the young man was fatally shot in the back. A 20-year-old companion was also struck by gunfire, sustaining a wound to his torso, but he ultimately survived the attack.
