In the late spring of 2013, 65-year-old Raymond Salmen, a resident of Vancouver, ventured into the rugged wilderness of British Columbia for a period of solitude and outdoor activity. He set up his camp in a remote area off the West Harrison Forest Service Road, beside the vast and deep Harrison Lake. Salmen, an experienced outdoorsman, had been at his chosen spot with his two small dogs since May 28th, intending to spend a few weeks fishing and hiking in the familiar mountains.
