In the winter of 2017, a dispute that began in the city of Rochester, New York, tragically ended the life of 37-year-old Enrique Vallon. On the evening of January 6th, what started as a disagreement escalated into a mobile confrontation that spilled into the neighboring town of Irondequoit. Two vehicles were involved in the incident, which culminated in a fatal shooting on East Ridge Road. Vallon, a passenger in one of the cars, was struck by gunfire and killed.
The male driver of the vehicle Vallon was in sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the shooting led Irondequoit Police to two Rochester men, who were subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the homicide. Joseph Hulsizer, then 27, and Gabriel Cruz, then 26, were taken into custody. Both men faced serious charges, including second-degree murder and attempted murder for their alleged roles in the death of Enrique Vallon and the injury of the second victim. Following their arrest, Hulsizer and Cruz were held without bail as the legal process against them commenced.
